Background

The Edwin Foundation Tea Initiative is the dream, hard work, perseverance and determination of one selfless and social development minded man, Mr. Atukunda Edwin Beekunda, thus the name of the company: The Edwin Foundation Tea Initiative (EFOTI). 

The Edwin Foundation Tea Initiative Ltd is a private company that deals in tea and fruits nursery establisment and management, tea and fruit field establishment and management. It initiated tea growing in Kamwenge district. 
About four years ago the company collaborated with Rwebitaba Tea Research Station in tea field management, nursery establishment and raising plantlets. 

Started in 2010 as an individual initiative in Mitooma District to offer advisory services to tea farmers in the areas of tea establishment and management, EFOTI later extended its services to places like Kamwenge district and was eventually registered in 2015 as a company limited by shares. It further expanded its operations to cover the whole country.
In bid to strengthen and legitimize its standing in bid activities, the company was also registered by Public Procurement and Disposing Authority (PPDA).

Becoming the best reference entity in tea and fruit development technologies, research and training in Uganda.

Mission
To promote modern tea and fruit growing technologies so as to produce tea that meets international standards through provision of adequate knowledge, high yielding clones and related training to tea and fruit growers in Uganda.

Objectives
To carry on the business of farming of any kind, growing, value addition, packaging, marketing, distributing, exporting of tea and fruits and any other products.
To carry on initiative and collaboration with other stakeholders in uplifting the standards of local people and reduce poverty in the country.
To establish farming educational institutions, and agricultural projects at all levels of instruction for rural farmers.
To impart support skills development for rural farmers with creativity and innovation to earn sustainable incomes for improved living conditions.
To act as a forum for farmers to enable them to establish contacts and to form a network for consulting and advising on matters concerning commercial farming undertakings.
To seek support for farmers’ activities from government, private sector organizations, financial institutions and donors.
